What is Rojo Revolution?
Rojo Revolution is the personal brand of me, David Rojo. I am an illustrator and graphic designer currently based in Phoenix, Arizona. Like many other creative folks through out the world, as I child I loved to draw, paint and play music. I knew as I got older that I would not be able to have a more normal type of career. I was also a pretty big video game fanatic as a child, so initially, I thought I wanted to make video games. I thought programming was the way to go. Well after learning I wasn't much of a programmer, and realizing how ludicrous the video game field actually is. I decided to focus more on the art side of things instead of programming. So thus, I got into graphic design.
I read an article once that stated there are 3 types of people who work as designers. There are artists, designers and hacks. Being honest with myself and with you, I would fall smack dab in the middle between artists and designer. I love illustrating and I still love drawing and painting, although I will admit most of it is done digitally now. However also having worked many years in advertising and branding. I have really come to love it as well. Not just the design side of it. But the over all process. Everything from ideas to conception. To me, the greatest thing of all is when I can combine great design with a little bit of art, all the while making sure the design is conveying the message it is supposed to.

Every design has its particular needs. It's particular message. And I love to treat each project that way. Some benefit from a real clean, crisp simple design. Using plenty of white space and bold words. Others can afford to be more graphical. Sometimes a really well placed graphic speaks louder than a real bold headline. And sometimes a simple concise bold headline speaks more than the most impressive of graphics.
Rojorevolution.com is meant to be my online portfolio and blog. For both clients and other designers alike. At this point, it probably won't be a full fledged blog. But I will be updating it as much as possible. I do love giving back to the design community that has given so much to me. So I do plan on making some free brushes and textures. And putting up some tutorials as well.
I am currently looking for work, full-time in house or contract (short/long term) as I did fall to the unemployment statistics a few months back. Even in these tough economic times, work needs to be done, and creative solutions are always needed. Shoot me an email if you could use my help, or simply want to say hi!
